# Image and video rules for every social network

Images and videos per post, formats, sizes, shapes and video lengths 1Post checks for every network, with what Threads and Instagram publish.

Every network takes different media: how many images, which formats, how large, what shape, and how long a video can run. This table lists what 1Post checks for each network before a post is sent, with the Threads and Instagram figures those networks publish cited and dated.

**What Threads publishes for media**

| Media | Rule |
| --- | --- |
| Images | JPEG or PNG, up to 8 MB, aspect ratio no wider than 10:1, width scaled into 320 to 1440 pixels |
| Video | MOV or MP4, up to 5 minutes and 1 GB, 23 to 60 frames per second, up to 1920 pixels wide |

## Questions

**Why does 1Post check media before posting?**

A file a network would refuse is found in the composer, where you can fix it, rather than when the post is due.

**Does 1Post convert files?**

Where a network takes only one format, such as JPEG on Instagram, a PNG or WebP image is converted for you.
