# The composer: 1Post docs

How the composer works: write once, see a live preview for each network, tailor the text per network, add parts and a first comment.

Write your post once and pick the accounts. The composer shows a live preview for each network with that network's limit drawn into the text. You can change the words for one network without touching the others, split a long text into parts for a thread and add a first comment where the network supports it.

## What you can do

- Preview each network as you type, with the cut point where its limit ends the text.
- Override the text for one account while the rest keep the original.
- Split text into parts for a thread at each network's own limit.
- Add a first comment, with a delay, on networks that allow one.
- Save the selection of accounts and settings as a set to reuse.

The composer uses the same rules as the free [character counter](https://get1post.com/tools/character-counter.md) and [post previewer](https://get1post.com/tools/post-previewer.md), so a post that passes there is not refused for length when it is sent.

## Questions

**Can I schedule without leaving the composer?**

Yes. Pick a time, or the next free slot, and schedule from the same screen.
