# Slots and the queue: 1Post docs

Set weekly posting times, let new posts take the next free slot and move or delete slots without losing the posts that use them.

A slot is a weekly time in your workspace time zone, optionally for certain accounts. A post sent with use_next_free_slot takes the next slot with room. You can add, change or delete slots, and deleting a slot can move its posts to the next free one. POST /v1/slots/next shows the next free slot without booking it.

## Set a rhythm

1. Add a slot with a weekday (0 to 6) and a minute of the day (0 to 1439).
2. Limit it to some accounts if different accounts post at different times.
3. Send posts with use_next_free_slot and they fill the slots in order.

A slot that a future post uses cannot be changed; delete it and choose where its posts move. The [weekly posting schedule guide](https://get1post.com/guides/set-a-weekly-posting-schedule.md) walks through a rhythm.

## Questions

**Does asking for the next free slot book it?**

No. POST /v1/slots/next only shows it. Nothing is booked until you create the post.
