# OAuth: definition for social media posting

What oauth means in social media posting, in plain words, with how 1Post handles it.

OAuth is the standard way to let one app act on your account at another service without sharing your password. You sign in on the service's own page and approve what the app may do. 1Post uses it to connect most networks, and you can revoke access from the network at any time.

The app receives a token with limited permissions, not your password.

Some networks expire tokens, in which case 1Post asks you to reconnect before posts are due.

## Questions

**Does 1Post see my password?**

No. You sign in on the network's own page.
