# Thread: definition for social media posting

What thread means in social media posting, in plain words, with how 1Post handles it.

A thread is a chain of connected posts, each a reply to the one before, used to say more than one post allows. X, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon support them. A thread splitter cuts long text into parts that each fit the limit and can number them.

Each part has its own limit, so a thread is how you get past a short limit without cutting your point.

1Post keeps a thread together as one scheduled post with several parts.

## Questions

**Can I schedule a thread?**

Yes. Write the parts in the composer, or split a long text with the [thread splitter](https://get1post.com/tools/thread-splitter.md), and schedule it as one post.
