# How to schedule a first comment with a post

Add a first comment to a post so hashtags or a link appear right after it publishes, with an optional delay of 1 to 120 minutes.

In the composer, open the network tab and write the first comment in its box. It posts as a reply under your post right after publishing, or after a delay of 1 to 120 minutes where the network allows one. Each network shows its own length limit for the comment, such as 2,200 characters on Instagram.

## Steps

1. Open the network tab. In Compose select the network that takes a first comment.
2. Write the comment. Type hashtags, a link or extra detail in the first comment box.
3. Choose a delay. Leave it at zero to post at once, or set 1 to 120 minutes.
4. Check the limit. The box shows the count against the network's limit.
5. Schedule. The comment goes out with the post.

## Good to know

- On X a link in a reply still costs the link rate through the API, which the composer states.

## Questions

**Which networks take one?**

Those that take replies. The first comment box appears only where it works.

**Can I move a link from the post to the comment?**

Yes, per network, in link placement.
