# Social media content calendar template

A weekly planning grid and a CSV layout for a social media content calendar, with steps to plan a month and load it into 1Post as scheduled posts.

A social media content calendar lists what you will post, on which network and when. Use the planning grid below to lay out a month, then load it into 1Post as a CSV of up to 500 posts. The calendar shows month, week, day and list views and lets you drag a post to a new day.

## The planning grid

Copy the grid into a spreadsheet. Repeat the week for each week of the month and fill one row per post.

| Day | Network | Post type | Topic or hook | Time | Status |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Monday | Network | Post type | Topic or hook | 09:00 | Idea |
| Tuesday | Network | Post type | Topic or hook | 09:00 | Idea |
| Wednesday | Network | Post type | Topic or hook | 09:00 | Idea |
| Thursday | Network | Post type | Topic or hook | 09:00 | Idea |
| Friday | Network | Post type | Topic or hook | 09:00 | Idea |

## Plan a month in five steps

1. Pick your networks and rhythm. Choose the networks you will keep up and how many posts a week each gets.
2. Set weekday themes. Give each weekday a recurring theme so topics are not chosen from nothing.
3. Fill the grid. Fill one row per post for the whole month.
4. Check the limits. Test each row against its network's text limit.
5. Load it into 1Post. Import the CSV and review the check before anything is queued.

## A CSV layout for 1Post

One row is one post. The fields are the post text, the accounts it goes to (handles or network names separated by semicolons), a date and time, and optional media addresses separated by semicolons. A time without an offset is read in your workspace time zone.

**Example file**

```csv
text,accounts,scheduled_at,media_urls
"Your post text","linkedin;bluesky","2026-11-03T09:00",""
"A post with a picture","instagram","2026-11-04T12:30","https://example.com/picture.jpg"
```

The import checks every row against its network and the plan's limits and lists any row it cannot queue. Step by step: [how to import posts from a CSV file](https://get1post.com/guides/import-posts-from-a-csv-file.md).

## Then work from the calendar

Once posts are queued, the [calendar](https://get1post.com/docs/calendar.md) shows every scheduled and published post in month, week, day and list views. Drag a post to another day to reschedule it, and each card shows its destinations and their state. For a steady rhythm between dated posts, add [weekly slots](https://get1post.com/guides/set-a-weekly-posting-schedule.md). A definition of the term is in the [glossary](https://get1post.com/glossary/content-calendar.md).

## Questions

**How many posts a week should a calendar hold?**

Start with the number you can keep up for a month, spread across the networks you use. The daily cap for each network, in the [daily caps data page](https://get1post.com/data/daily-posting-caps.md), is a ceiling, not a target.

**Can I import the calendar into 1Post?**

Yes. Save the sheet as a CSV with one post per row and import up to 500 rows; every row is checked against its network and the rows that fail are listed.

**What is the difference between a calendar and a queue?**

A calendar shows posts on the dates they go out. A queue fills the next free weekly slot. Many teams plan on the calendar and keep a queue for evergreen posts. See [queue](https://get1post.com/glossary/queue.md).
