# Schedule Mastodon posts: formats, limits, setup

Schedule and publish text, media, polls and threads to Mastodon with 1Post: what you can post, the limits, the daily cap and how to connect your account.

## Connect Mastodon

1. Open Accounts in 1Post and choose Connect, then Mastodon.
2. Enter the address of your instance.
3. Approve access on your instance.
4. Choose the account in the composer.

## Before it goes out

The composer shows Mastodon's preview beside the others, counts the text the way Mastodon does, and lists anything the network would refuse, such as a file that is too large. Fix it in the composer and the post stays in your queue.

## Questions

**How many characters can I post on Mastodon?**

**Can I schedule Mastodon posts with 1Post?**

Yes. Write the post once, tailor the Mastodon version, then pick a time or a free queue slot. 1Post previews the post and checks it against Mastodon's rules before it is sent.

Up to 100 a day for each connected Mastodon account.

**My instance allows longer posts. Does 1Post know?**

Yes. Set your instance's limit on the connection and the composer and counters use it instead of 500.
