# Free LinkedIn text formatter: bold and italic

Turn words into bold, italic, serif or monospace text for a LinkedIn post, with a plain copy and a warning about how screen readers read styled text.

Type your text, pick a style, and copy it into a LinkedIn post. The formatter swaps letters for look-alike characters in bold, italic, bold italic, serif, monospace and more. Styled letters are different characters, so screen readers may spell them out: use them for a few words only.

## How it works

LinkedIn's composer has no bold button, so styled text is made from Unicode characters that look like bold or italic letters. The formatter converts ASCII letters and, where the style has them, digits. Accents, emoji and punctuation stay as typed.

Because the result is a different set of characters, search does not match it and screen readers may read each letter by name. Keep styled text to a headline or a few words, and keep a plain copy next to it.

> It runs in your browser. Nothing you type or choose is uploaded, and the page works without an account. To publish what you made, [start a trial](https://get1post.com/signup.md) and open it in the composer.

## Questions

**Is styled text bad for accessibility?**

It can be. Screen readers may read each styled letter by name or skip it. Use a few words at most, never a whole post, and put the plain version in the first comment if a point matters.

**Will it work on every network?**

The characters are standard Unicode, so most apps show them, but fonts differ and a few apps draw boxes for characters they lack. Check the post before you send it.

**Does LinkedIn count styled letters differently?**

Each styled letter is one character to count by code points, but it takes two units in some systems. The tool shows the LinkedIn count of your text.
