# Free thread splitter for X, Threads and Bluesky

Split a long text into thread parts that each fit the limit of X, Threads, Bluesky or Mastodon, breaking at spaces, with optional 1/n numbering.

Paste a long text, choose X, Threads, Bluesky or Mastodon, and the splitter cuts it into thread parts that each fit that network's limit. It breaks at spaces, never in the middle of a word unless one word is longer than the whole limit, and can number each part like 1/5.

## How it works

Each part is measured with the network's own counting rule, so a link on X counts 23 and the cut falls where the network would really cut. With numbering on, the splitter keeps room at the end of each part for the number.

Copy the parts one by one, or open them in the composer where they stay together as one thread.

> It runs in your browser. Nothing you type or choose is uploaded, and the page works without an account. To publish what you made, [start a trial](https://get1post.com/signup.md) and open it in the composer.

## Questions

**Where does it break the text?**

At the last space that keeps the part within the limit. A single word longer than the limit is the only case where it cuts inside a word.

**Does numbering use up characters?**

Yes. With numbering on, each part reserves room for a number such as 12/12 so no part goes over after the number is added.

**Which networks take threads?**

X, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon take a reply chain, which is what a thread is. Other networks take one post, so the tool offers these four.
